Render freezes and does not complete

I have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 6.0 and when rendering a 30 minute (456mb) movie it freezes at 35% complete when choosing DVD (NTSC and MPEG1 and MPEG2) on Make a movie option and 55% when choosing VCD. My system has a Pentium 4 1.6 GHz with 756 Mb Ram which meet the minimum requirement). I also am rendering to another drive that has 90GB available.
I have rendered movies before in Vegas Movie Studio 4.0 that were about the same length and had no problems. I did use more moving backgrounds this time with picture video overlays so maybe that has something to do with the problem.
Any suggestions on how to get this video rendered so I can burn a DVD using DVD Architect.

picture - when I saw that word along with freeze - it reminded me of a problem I (and others had) had with mixed media (still pictures and video). Check the resolution of the picture you inserted. In the past if the resolution was too large (what the heck are they now 1200x1800 or bigger?) vegas would freeze at that point. If this is your situation just resize the photo to lower numbers and reinsert it and you should clear up the "plug" in the system.

if you so a search in this forum on 'photo resolution' you should probably pick up the string I am refering to.

hope that helps, good luck.

Thanks for your reply Rustier. I did check into the photo resolution issue and most of my pictures were way too big. And the largest one was where it would freeze. I did some further research in this forum after leaving the original message and noticed that most had problems because of the resolution and your email just confirmed it. The Irfanview download did make it easy and fast to resize my 222 pics using the batch option.
Thanks for your time!
