render preview v8

Guys,
when I render in v8 my preview window no longer shows the video in the preview window. Now it says "no re-compression needed".

is this normal? In v7 even if I rendered a uncompressed avi it showed the preview as it rendered.

You must be rendering to exactly the same format as the source. Vegas has always behaved this way when rendering unmodified DV to DV or unmodified uncompressed to uncompressed. I believe version 8 now does the same thing when rendering unmodified MPEG to MPEG of the same parameters.
