Render problem

I've searched this forum for an answer to my render problem but can't find a definitive resolution. With over 8k posts it's going to take some time.

I'm currently using Version 6 - updated to 6.0b. I've previously rendered a short video - about 8 minutes worth - with no problem.

My latest attempt is a 30 minute video, with a few titles, two stills with fades for the titles and then the edited video, with fades between scenes, so nothing too ambitious.

However, when I try to render, the process seems to freeze at 10 percent but the countdown timer continues.

Reading advice from previous posts about this, I left the pc running overnight, but after 8 hours plus, was still showing 10 percent.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

My system spec is:
Amd Athlon 64x2 dual core - 5600+ @ 2.8 Ghz
2Gb RAM
nVidia 8600GTS 256Mb
XP Home SP3
160Gb - 80Gb free
80Gb - 20Gb free

Not world beating, but exceeds the minimum requirements.

Many thanks

how big are your stills (resolution and MB)? You may need to downsize them if they're to big and too high resolution. Many threads talk about this, if that's your problem.

Version 6b is pretty old - nearly 4 years, as far as I remember - so it could be a good idea to upgrade to the newest version.
To check if this cures your problem you can download the free trial and try it.

Resize your still images to 2048x2048 or smaller. Your specs are fine.

Thanks folks

The stills were taken with a 9Mp camera so are quite chunky. However, the render process goes past these and a couple of minutes into the video (taken on a Sony HandyCam).

I'll certainly try the free trial version and with the upgrade at around 44 quid it'll probably be better to upgrade anyway.

I'm away for the weekend so can't do anything about it 'til I get back.

Once again, thanks for all you suggestions.
