Render quality

Hi Just wanted to share something that I experienced yetserday when testing for a new project. Sorry if this is already common knowledge :)

I had a jpeg from a scan of a brochure, where I wanted to make a pan/zoom effect on with a slight rotate too over time for some seconds. The final result has to be rendered as WMV and I used 640x480 x 512 kb.

When I rendered using the default "good" quality I had a lot of flicker etc., but chanching to "best" render quality really had an impact on quality.

Just wanted to share this, because I manly use "good" but I think at times like this it will pay off to use "best"

Not sure this would affect rendering a pan/crop on a still, but you might also remember that there are event Properties you can experiment with.: "Reduce interlace flicker," Smart or Force Resample.

As to WMV, I always render WMV that I would post at my page on the Net with these settings for an NTSC 29.97 file. Probably works for most other fps::

Project -- Best
Video -- CBR, Windows Media Vide 9, Vdeo Smoothing 50 Balanced.*
Bit Rate -- 1000K

(* I use Balanced because I use Sharpen quite a bit. Your mileage may vary).

I found out about these setting from this forum when entering a clip for a contest last year. It really worked and also removed flicker/jerkiness.
