That's an uncontrolled, unscientific opinion blog, and should be regarded as such.
Notice the author did not post any settings . . . ?
The phrase "exact same settings" is highly suspect in any usage because they are not enumerated!

there are an awful lot of 'experts' out there writing blogs.

i've come to the (totally unscientific) conclusion that the bigger, more convoluted the blog, the less time the writer is actually gainfully employed ;-)

of course there are exceptions, such as philip bloom. but by and large, they're few and far apart..

If I render directly to an Internet uploadable format from Vegas, I get results much like that blog guy did using Premier Pro. If I render to a high quality intermediate, then use Handbrake, my results look like the FCP X sample. Hmm, I wonder if I would be using Handbrake as much if I was a FCP X user...
