render time?

What's a reasonable render time for a 30 minute video? I was rendering to mpg on my Compaq Presario SR1230NX and after it had been at work for an hour and the "time remaining" had gotten up to 24 hours (and was still going strong) I canceled it. I ended up losing all my work in the process.

I've never had it take (or threaten to take) that long before. What factors could have inclined it to do that?

Thanks!

There are many variables, especially the filters and FX you may have applied.
First thing to check is if you have set one or more of the video tracks to less than 100% opacity in the track header.

Also, if you have any 3D compositing, that can slow down the whole project, even if it's only a small part of the project.

Effects, layers, filters, color corrections, etc. all slow down rendering. I made a nine minute demo reel with an animated background, moving text, and pan/cropped video in the foreground. 36 hours to render. I'm surprised my processor didn't explode.

Was the info window at 99% or 100% rendered?

Click on "remove unused media" in the project media window and render again. Please let me know if this fixes your problem.
