When render to new track function is used it's usually so that a finished segment or semi finished segment of a complex project can be re imported into the project for further use. If it's your intention to ultimately render the project using best quality settings should the render to new track settings also be set to 'best' or does it not make any difference at this stage? The same question could be asked about using progressive scan as your output settings at this stage as well.

Should the use of these settings just be limited to rendering to MPEG2?
