Render widescreen MPEG-2 - what am I missing?

Hi there,

I recently created a project in Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8.0. The project consists of AVCHD video files and still image files.

All I want to do is render this project as an MPEG-2 audio/video file that will display correctly on my 16:9 TV (I use Windows Media Center to play video files on my TV).

However when I go to render the project as an MPEG-2 file, the only NTSC widescreen option is for creating a separate video-only stream for use in DVD Architect. There is NO option to create a widescreen MPEG-2 with audio! I must be missing something here. Any help would be most appreciated!

Thanks,

DCKiwi

Yes, there is. You select the HDV 1440x1080 mpeg2 .m2t option under Main Concept filetype.

That's good advice, and I tried that thanks.

The only catch is that creates high-def MPEG-2 (1080x1440 resolution) m2t files. I'd rather create DVD resolution MPEG-2 files (.mpg) that are viewable on a wide range of platforms.

Again, I can create these files in Vegas - but only by choosing DVD architect video stream, so there is no sound.

VMS won't export mpeg2 DVD video with sound. Export your video in a lossless codec, or in HD M2T as you just did, and then use the freeware HCEnc mpeg2 encoder to do the exporting to 720x480: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/HC
