Rendered but wouldn't play

I have built a 4 minute video and rendered it using the .avi windows extension. I did it in PAL SD YUV and the resulting file is 4,854,483. This is using Vista OS on a laptop that had 14 Gig of mem. left on a 100GB drive. It seemed to go well but when it tries to play in Windows Media Player the time ticks off but there is nothing but a black screen. Any ideas?

The Sony YUV codec is more of an intermediate than delivery format. It's not considered exactly, ermm . . . "playable."
;?)

Use the DV codec and you will be just fine for playback of standard def video.

Thanks for the reply. It worked like a charm. If you are still on the line: I was working with the Insert Text dialog when for some reason it flew up into the upper left corner and I can't get it back down to where it belongs. I have pushed all of the buttons that I can see in the pane with no results. Also I am uploading the finished product to my site on Facebook (alderhouse glassblowing) and it is going painfully slowly. Like 27kbs. Is it, perhaps because it is living on my G drive? This is my huge backup drive.

Again, thanks for the help.
