Rendered DVD has glitches during playback

Hey guys,

I'm having problems with the playback of my rendered video for creating a DVD. I set my project properties correctly and rendered using MPEG 2 with no Video FX added and rendering was successful with no crashes. But when I play it back in Windows Media Player there's a few glitches and artifacts.

My playback shows box like artifacts especially when the camera is moving. At times if panning goes fast, if can look like a cloud of locusts! I some parts vertical objects (eg fence posts) go into a herring bone pattern as well.

Same thing happens when I play it back in DVD Architect Pro or any other media player. I never had this problem with Movie Studio Platinum and DVD Architect Studio. I have the latest built version of Vegas Pro 12. The Dynamic RAM Preview max is set to 200MB by default.

I don't have this problem when I render video for creating a Blu-ray Disc using Vegas Pro. My project properties are set to 1920x1080-30p. And the footage I'm using was shot from a DSLR camera. I'm editing a wedding video for one of my clients and they shot the wedding video on a DSLR.

Same thing happens when I render video from a AVCHD video camera to DVD. Does anyone render with your Graphics Card turn ON in Vegas Preferences? I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 with the latest driver installed.

When I render video for DVD using GPU Acceleration in Movie Studio Platinum it doesn't have any glitches or artifacts during playback. How do I solve this problem? What are your suggestions? Please respond ASAP.

The "cloud of locusts" makes the problem sound like the bitrate used for encoding was way too low.

When encoding from Vegas, you should start with one of the "DVD Architect" templates. Use NTSC if you live in North America, or PAL if you live elsewhere. Use Widescreen if your source material is widescreen.

The only setting you ever want to change from one of these four DVD Architect default templates is the Average Bitrate. You access this by modifying the template. The default is, I think, 6,000,000 bits per second. You can set this as high as 8,000,000. For most work, you should not set it lower. If the total time of all the video on your DVD is 70 minutes or less, set this to 8,000,000, and choose variable bitrate.
