Rendered Greenscreen & non-transparency

I rendered my chromakeyed event to an HDV intermediary. When I place the intermediate on track1 of another project, the "black" area comes out opaque, not transparent.

How do I render so that only the subject is seen in the resulting clip and the "black" keyed area 100% transparent?

Maybe this is a little basic, but did you try Event > property > Media > Alpha channel different modes ("straight", "premultiplied", etc.)?

Does the HDV intermediary format you chose support an alpha channel, and if so, was that channel enabled on the template when you rendered?

A quick look at the HDV intermediate formats available suggests that they don't support an alpha channel, in which case you'd need to render as uncompressed AVI to get the alpha channel - I could be wrong though.

The HDV intermediary (CineForm HD Codec V2.1) does not seem to support Alpha Channels even though the dropdown gives me choices (at least, nothing seems to happen when I select any of them)

However the Uncompressed AVI alpha channel choice "Straight Unmatted" works as I expected it to work.

I was not aware that I'd have to "turn on" the alpha channel from "none" to something useful.
