rendered video now looks shaded and sound dulled?

I found the brightness and contrast and can probably fix the picture but the sound has dulled too. It was Ok yesterday and I sent it back to camera. The next time I looked at it, it was dark. I recaptured what i had sent back to the camera previously and it even looks shaded. Then I got rid of some clips and rendered video thinking I just was running out of space? Does anyone know what the problem might be. Yhe rest of the video clips look fine.
Thanks
I have 2.0 build 39 It has done fine till this.

Hello, and thanks for adding to the forum.

Which version of the VideoCapture utility are you running? Open the vidcap, go to Help, and choose About. It will list the build there for you. Make sure you are running the latest update for that, and you can find that here:

Update for sure. Anyone else have any suggestions?

is this a DV capture and render back to DV ?
if DV make sure you do NOT have the resample video box checked.

when you say it is shaded ? do you mean on your computer screen or TV screen ? did you adjust brightness/contrast/color judging it on your computer monitor ?
perhaps you should try a short test ..capture a DV file ( 1-2 min) ... does that file look brighter on your computer screen or on your TV ( play back camera to TV) ?? now send the file back to camera .. did it change ?

you need to set computer monitor and tv monitor to a standard ! if you have NO standard to set up your computer monitor then how do you know where to set brightness-contrast-color ??? use color bars to set the computer monitor and video monitor . i only adjust color-contrast-brightness of a clip using my sony monitor ( video) -

SOUND = VV defaults the audio level to -3 you might put it back to 0 .... are you doing any FX on the audio ? are your speakers/sound card good enough to make those judgements ??

I will try those suggestion and get back to you. I am only viewing through my computer monitor. I am judging by the change of the way the rendered clip looked before in comparison with the rest of the clips that still look the same as before on the computer monitor. I am almost sure I did something wrong. I still have clips it might be easier to just do again but i would like to know what I did.
Thanks for your time and i will let you know.

Thanks for your advice i didn't start over I just check the clip by sending back to camera and it was fine. I guess the renders put together just appeared to be darker with cross fades and ect. that I used and I must have had the sound down a little when I rendered. You saved me a lot of work using a little common sense. Sometime I don't have any it seems.
Thanks to all again.
