What template did you use render it? Using the DVD Architect NTSC video stream template should get you about an hour and a half on a 4.7GB DVD.

Those movies are created on double-layer DVD's which give you around 9GB of space.

Edits will not affect this. It is purely based on the length of the video and the bit-rate that you use to encode it. An hour and 13 minutes can use an average video bit-rate of 6400K. Since the standard template uses 6000K it should fit with no problem.
