Rendering

Hi All!

I've rendering using the batch rendering script, to MPEG 2 and 5.1 Surround. In all cases I select the Main Concept MPEG-2 DVD Architect PAL Video Stream, which when I bring into DVDA stops DVDA rerendering.

I'm keen to do a 2 pass render, but then DVDA wants to rerender the MPEG2 before making the disc.

What settings should I use to make sure i can do a 2 pass render, and not have DVDA rerender?

If any of you have the time, if you could explain why the DVD Architect render selection in the batch render script is different to the others, that would be great.

Cheers,

Andy

Did you use the DVDA template in Vegas?

I, too, would like an answer...

Make sure you use a bitrate that's appropriate for your length of video. If your file is too big to fit on the DVD then DVDA *MUST* reencode it. How long was your video and what bitrate did you use (and what template did you use)?

Recommendations:
1) use one of the DVDA templates
2) Use the "Custom" button and adjust the bitrate appropriately (just do a search here to find many bitrate calculators or use the chart in my newsletter at www.jetdv.com)

This should get you a file that DVDA can use without reencoding.

Edward!

Thanks for the reply.

The length was less than an hour. It shouldn't have wanted to re-encode.

What's the difference between the DVDA template and the non-DVDA template for the same thing i.e. MPEG-2?

Is there anyway I can do a 2-Pass render for DVDA in Vegas? If so, could you share the settings with me, and it there anyway to get this as an option on the batch render script?

Cheers,

Andy

Yes you can do a 2-pass in Vegas and use it in DVDA. The reason I specified one of the DVDA presets is that the other settings are optimized for DVDA. Given a file that is small enough to fit, DVDA will not reencode. Now... it WILL prepare and it WILL render any menus you may have so there will still be a rendering process.

I have the procedure I use written up in the newsletter. (#7 or #9 I think). It was written for Vegas 4 but the basic procedure is the same except you can now use 2-pass.

As for batch scripts - you'll need to set up presets with the proper settings (maybe have several for different lengths of videos).
