Rendering 1080p from GoPro

Hi folks,

I am trying to render some GoPro footage, really struggling to get some acceptable results.

My footage seems to be shot at 1080p 48fps which may not have been an optimum choice but can't change that now.

I have used gopro cineform software which has produced avi files still in 1080p 48fps format.

I have then loaded the clips in Movie Studio 12, I have tried various settings such as 1080p 25fps, 1080p 24fps and 1080p 23.976 etc

Everything seems to show really bad motion blur.

In project settings I have clicked Match Media Settings, this selects 1920x1080 47.952 fps, what should I set the render settings to?

I also tried Disabling Resampling but this produces a video with a bout 1 frame every few seconds.

Please help

Are you interested in playing back your files, or using them for something else?
The reason I ask is 48 fps can load up a player when used with a high bitrate.
We know absolutely nothing about your system capabilities at this point.
A "conventional" render would be 24fps, progressive, resampling "OFF".

"
If your rendered video does this, something is set wrong. Post the complete file properties using MediaInfo.
MediaInfo is a free download from Sourceforge.
Again, you've said nothing about your render settings -- codec, bitrate, etc. etc.??
If it is the Vegas preview, there are various ways to optimize preview framerate; however, that is an entirely separate topic from yours.

Sorry I should have explained what I was trying to do.

I have many hours of gopro footage, I have used the gopro software to create about 25 clips to edit together. The gopro software has left the framerate and res the same but has converted the files into very large avi files.

I have about 30-40 minutes of clips, I need to distribute these via a 4.7GB DVD, I don't want the DVD to play its just to share the video so need to try and keep the final video less than 4.7GB

People will then copy the video off the disc and I need it to work with as many devices as possible, eg ipad, PC, Mac the most common items people would use to watch a video.

In Movie Studio I have selected, Save it to my hard drive, MainConcept AVC/ACC Codec, Internet 1080p mp4 then I have tried many different settings, 23.9 fps, 24fps, 25fps etc Also VBR and CBR, nearly all have bad motion blur, if I try to disable re-sampling then the output video is about 1 frame every few seconds.

Last try was with a short clip, I have posted the mediainfo details below, this has quite bad motion blur:-

"keep the final video less than 4.7GB"
No, you must keep it under 4.35 GB.

"nearly all have bad motion blur, if I try to disable re-sampling then the output video is about 1 frame every few seconds."
With the properties you posted above?? Then something's wrong with your system/player setup. What player are you using? Trying to play it directly froma Data DVD? You could upload a sample render showing the problem to a fileshare (NOT Youtube). Others here will be glad to play it on their systems and help you figure out what's going on..

"People will then copy the video off the disc and I need it to work with as many devices as possible, eg ipad, PC, Mac the most common items people would use to watch a video."
Then you need to be providing 720p 24 (23.976), without a doubt. It's the most playable HD format, and 1080p for consumer delivery will give you nothing but headaches.

After saving the file to the hard disk I am playing back with windows media player on windows 7, it looks the same on VLC as well.

The mediainfo I posted is the clip that has 1 frame every few seconds on playback, this happens when resampling is disabled.

I can try switching to 720p, what is the best workflow to achieve this?

There is nothing in your clip properties that would make it unplayable, except maybe on an older PC. That's the main reason I suggest 720p, however that's not necessarily the cause of your problem.

Upload that clip somewhere (Dropbox, Google Drive). 30 seconds should do. Also a 720p clip the same way. Use a 720p internet template or just change the dimensions in the one you used.
