Rendering 5D2 files from Pro 9 crashes Vegas

LarsHD wrote on 5/22/2009, 9:15 AM
I drop a 5D2 *.MOV file on the time line
I try to render this out to uncompressed AVI (or any other format)
It acts as if it starts rendering. Approx time counts up
But nothing is actually rendered
Time count goes up and up and up
Hitting "cancel" does nothing
Waiting
Hitting cancel again - nothing happens
Going into Task manager to end Vegas Pro 9

So, trying to render a 5D2 MOV file from Vegas Pro 9 crashes everytime. Both running Pro 9-32 in XP 32 bit and Pro9-32in Vista 64.

Anyone else?

Hi Lars

I just downloadet 2 sample files, and they rendered fine to HD 1080 60i (YUV). Just did put them on the timeline with a short dissolve in between. This was on XP32 on my test PC - 3.0 GHz P4, not the sharpest tool in the shed, but it went ok.

Hi Lars,

I had the same problem, but only when projects had several shots (say more than 10).

Seems there's perhaps two issues at work here from what I can find:

1. Vegas isn't playing nice with the MOV's generated by the 5D Mk2.
2. Vegas is having memory management problems.

I solved the issue you described by using cineform to convert the files to an AVI format.

But I am still having trouble with Vegas running out of memory.

Cheers,
Jason.
