An uncompressed AVI or a QuickTime movie, afaik, are the only formats to support an alpha channel.

And more specifically, within quicktime you're going to be looking for things that support 32bits - TGA, TIFF, PNG are some examples of quicktime formats that support an alpha channel.

When using the TGA, TIFF, or PNG formats within Quicktime, does it encapsulate these as a series of still images similar to M-JPEG?
