Make sure you don't have the "render loop region" box checked is but one thing to look for.

Make sure you have "render loop region only" selected.

Also, make sure you are rendering to an NTFS formatted harddrive. A FAT32 drive limits your file size to 4 gig, which is about 18 minutes of DV AVI.

Unless you reformatted the passport drive after you purchased it, it is probably FAT32. Most come that way by default.

actually I never formated it. I'll try and render it on my internal hard rive to see if that works..

If this is the only drive in your machine-i.e., the same drive the system is on-it's not a great idea to render to it. Better to render to a second internal drive. Rendering to an external dive is ok, but like molasses (slow, not sweet)
