Rendering and preview are slow when adding text/effects?...

Sony Vegas Pro 13 has a stable high framerate when rendering or previewing a normal video, but when adding a layer of text or effect, the framerate drops magnificently.

I can't find a solution to this problem, and it's now costing me hours to get the text/effects right, because even pre-rendering a small part of such video seems to take a lot of time.

My system shouldn't have a problem with this (AMD Ryzen 7 1700 (eight-core!), NVidia GTX 1060, and a total of 16GB RAM), so I suppose there must be an important setting I've missed.

Help is appreciated.

Adding text or other compositing elements will definitely slow things down - a lot. I typically use a small preview window set to preview-auto when trying to get the text & graphics motion looking right, then switch to full previews when judging the appearance apart from motion (so not playing back). A shift-b ram preview can help, but not always good enough.

Also, FYI, the Nvidia GPU's are generally not best for Vegas at this time (that may change with V 15 - who knows?)
