Rendering as MP4 files

Robert-Wachtman wrote on 10/28/2024, 10:32 AM

I want to render Vegas projects as files for sharing with others (directly or via Drop Box). Most of my source videos are from movies converted to MP4 or AVI files, AVCHD (.mts) files from my camcorder, or downloads from my iPhone. What do you recommend as a format and template to use? I am assuming that I will be creating MP4 files, but am not sure of what to choose in the Render As menu.

what to choose in the Render As menu.

Depends also on your used hardware that we don't know.

Thanks, j-v. Not sure I understand how hardware is involved. I want to render a completed Vegas project to a video file that will be recognized by software used by the typical desktop, laptop, or mobile device owner. I'm finding there are many who no longer have the ability to play DVD or Blu-ray discs; they stream everything. How do I get my Vegas projects to them? I'm sure it's obvious I'm not very well-versed when it comes to video, lol. I've always distributed my work via discs, but this seems to be a disappearing practice. I would appreciate any help you can provide, including directing me to a possible source of information on this topic. I don't want to take a lot of your time, and again, thanks much for responding. --b--

Try MagixAVC with Mainconcept or a GPU encoder if you're in a hurry for a file that will play on almost any device.

Thanks, Roger. And for j-v, I now understand the role of hardware (specifically, my GPU) in processing video files. I'm using a current Nvidia GPU, so I should be OK. Thanks to you both. I'm learning.

@Robert-Wachtman

If you want to use a Magix AVC renderoption with NVENC (Nvidia) it is important to use the latest drivers for your Nvidia. You find those with this Vegas option

I want to render Vegas projects as files for sharing with others (directly or via Drop Box).

  • Upload your Vegas creations to Youtube or Vimeo and send them an email link.
  • --or--
  • Upload them to Google Drive or Dropbox and send them a download link.
  • Use the Magix Mainconcept AVC encoder template that most closely matches your source and delivery choice.
  • I don't use the GPU encoder options because the results are inherently lower quality and larger file size than from their software counterparts.

Email attachments, at least on my accounts, are limited to 20MB, so that is not how I share videos.
