Rendering / Burning BluRay 1280x720

As the circle of light increases. so does the circumference of darkness !

The more I read on the topic the more confused I get..
SCENARIO: I have 7 .MTS files (1280x720 59 FPS) shot with my Sony NX5U and recorded on a SDHC card. Each one just under 2GB

I would like to burn these as one continuous file (it is a hockey game) on a BluRay DVD. No menu.

Should I render these files in SVPro 12 (which format) and then burn it as one file using DVDA? SVPro 12 doesn't have a 720 option for burning to BluRay disk.

Or should I bring the 7 .MTS files into DVDA 6 and ......

I need directions/suggestions please. Thank you

If these are all parts of a single recording session, then the parts need to be concatenated.

Sony provides a program, once called PMB (Picture Motion Browser), but which is now called PlayMemories Home. This is basically a database program but also allows transferring videos from your camera to your computer. This joins up long scenes that have been split into 2GB segments (because of limitations of the file system) into a single file and also renames all files according to the shooting date and time.

Another way is to concatenate the files using the command

COPY /B FILE1.MTS+FILE2.MTS+FILE3.MTS newfile.m2ts

(Note that the camera uses uppercase letters and three character max. file extension also because of the file system)

There are also other ways to concatenate as well. You cannot drag the parts to the timeline in Vegas because you will get a small gap at the joins if you do.

Thanks PeterDuke
I downloaded and installed the PlayMemories Home program. Can I bring in files from my computer to concatenate>? I think that is what Device Explorer in SVP is supposed to do. But I couldn't get it to read the files in the folder.

Are there anyHelp/Instructions for PMH for bringing in files from my HD ?

Thank you for steering me in this direction.

It is a while since I used PMH, and then only once. (I used to use PMB).

To concatenate the parts of a scene, PMH has to transfer the video files from the camera once it is connected to the computer via USB. It may also be possible to transfer from the SD card taken from the camera via a card reader, but don't hold me to that. The important thing is that the camera file structure and miscellaneous files must be left intact.

If you have already manually copied your files to your computer, then you probably can't join them in a straight forward way with PMH, but it still may be possible. If so, I don't know how. It may be easier to use the COPY command as I mentioned before. It is just a bit tedious to do if, like me, you are not a quick typist.

If you do a search of this forum or YouTube you may come up with other methods.

The method I always use is the Join function in the free tsMuxeR.

I think when I tried it, tsMuxer failed for Sony AVCHD but succeeded for Panasonic AVCHD. I am a bit hazy on the details now. But certainly give it a try. It may have just been me or my computer (I am currently doing a restore because of an apparently unrelated problem.)

I have used it on Panasonic and JVC sources, but not Sony.

Thanks folks

I have downloaded and installed tsMuxeR.
I "joined" my 7 .MTS files using it. Seemed to go okay.
I am now preparing an image in DVDA.

I like what is happening so far. In fact I m thrilled !

Thanks again eery from PeterDuke down on ....

Thank you everyone.

My DVD 180x720 turned out just great.

I believe I now have a workflow in place;
1. "Join" the .MTS files in tsMuxeR
2. Bring the resulting file into DVDA
3. Create the DVD

Total time was about 53 minutes.

Thanks again

Ha, I found my notes re tsMuxer.

When I used it to concatenate Sony AVCHD, the audio was slightly delayed (out of sync), but not for Panasonic.

I suggest you do a check to see if this happens with you.
