Rendering Entire Timeline

Hello,

I've just made the switch from Vegas 4 to Vegas 5 (and btw, it has cured any dropped frame probelmes I've had in the past). However, I've just finished a 90 minute show and when I went to print to tape, it wants to render all the whole timeline instead of just the dissolves.

I checked my settings in V5 and compared with V4 and can't really figure out where the descrepency resides. The only real diffeence I noticed is with the added 24p pull down option which Vegas 4 didn't have.

I ended up exporting and EDL of the show and importing into V4. It seems to be only rendering the effects, which is what I had originally expected. So, I guess I'm wondering what I could be over looking in V5 that wants to render my entire show when prnting to tape.

Any Ideas?

Thanks,

Poly

if you are rendering as 24p with pull down ( using 24p A or 29.97interlace clips ) then it may have to render everything .. all depends on your original clips and how you set up the project ...

Thanks for your prompt response. I'll have to go over the Vegas 5 preferences again and compare more closely to how I had Vegas set up. I had done a promo on Vegas 5 earlier this week without a problem. Maybe when I created this new Project, I changed something inadvertantly.

Thanks again,

Are all your video tracks at 100% opacity?

If your project has Parent/Child tracks, this can cause everything to be rendered, even though it's not needed. It's been reported and hopefully a fix is in the works.

Ok, what I had to do was right click the DV AVI files in the media pool, choose 'File Format Properties' instead of just 'Properties' and uncheck the 24p option.

I appreciate all of your input!

Thanks,
