Hmmm... this sounds familiar!

I'm grappling with the EXACT same error at the moment. I still don't have it figured out. Sony recommends to update to 4.0d (which I still haven't gotten around to downloading), however, I don't see anything in the release notes relating to any MPEG changes.

You sure it isn't heat generating the failure? Hard drive seizing up? What about included stills, if any? Anything higher than a 4K rez? Are you rendering straight from the timeline or from an avi file that's been previously rendered out?

(a little shameless butt kissing Spot-- I picked up your book at Barnes & Noble about two weeks ago. GREAT JOB! I've been using Vegas since 2.0... and there was STILL a great amount of info. that I got from the book!)

I really don't think it's a heat issue-- nothing else seizes up, just MPEG renders. There are no stills in the project-- it's a rendered .avi file that's loaded on the timeline. No cuts, no multiple tracks, at dv resolution. I'm just using the default MPEG-2 template.

Damned if I can figure it out! I just downloaded the 4.0e update (I've been using 4.0a), and I'll install it when I get home. Keep your fingers crossed!

I had a issue with my system shutting down during a MPEG-2 render. It was a heat issue, someone suggested to open the PC case and blow a house fan on the inside, I thought this was silly but It worked and work well. I'm not sure what steps to take next short of keeping the house fan handy and keeping the case open.

Try the fan

What version of Vegas are you using?

Do you have enough free space on both your C: drive and your "Render To" drive?

What format is that drive?

Do you have the "save markers" option checked?

Vegas 4.0e fixed all of my MPEG-2 problems. Who'd have guessed it!

I have tried different options but still the same thing happen.
I use VV 4.0

I dont really know how to check the free space on the render to drive. On the C drive there is lots of space (>60 GB)

Format of the drive is DVD PAL. Saved as MPEG2 ( Im not shure even here if this answer your question)

I have tried the " save markers" option but there is no change.

So somewhere in the middle of the project(as last for an hour) the rendering stops. What to do next?/puttes
