rendering failed to complete

Uncle Zook wrote on 5/11/2014, 5:38 PM
Rendering of a less than 3 minute project stopped at 34% complete. Same thing happened on a second try. Using Movie Studio Platinum 13. Project included some video effects. Video was captured with Nikon Coolpix S3300. When I turned off "GPU Acceleration of Video Processing" rendering completed successfully. Dynamic Ram Preview set at 200mb. Is this type of processor with the graphics integrated into the CPU fully supported by Sony?

Being a Nikon, I suspect the video files are Apple MOV?

I've had similar issues in the past when rendering MOV files using GPU. The only fix was to either convert the MOV files before editing them or render in CPU only.

Actually the Nikon Coolpix delivers video in AVI Motion JPEG Compliant format. I was hoping that Sony tech support would jump in here and reply to my question about whether they support video graphics that are integrated into the mother board.
Thanks for your reply

Sony tech support doesn't visit here often.

As for supported video cards, have you looked at the Supported GPU section here:

MSmart that was a very helpful suggestion. It does appear that my integrated video card is supported. Of course I would still like to know why my rendering failed so let;s hear from you Sony

If it works with CPU, then the issue could be with the integrated video card. However I think folks here have reported that a fast multicore CPU renders as fast as GPU. What is your system specs?

If a fix works then don't accept anything else. If you write to Sony with a fault, rather than on the Forums, you will get a specific reply, but it can take time..... Yet you seem to have resolved the issue - it's possible your drivers may need updating (Don't we always read that?), but you may just have to render the old-fashioned way . . . . at least until Graphics cards are standardised and can be tested. It would seem to me that a simple Test Graphics button ( or standalone prog?), would be a useful way of sorting out this issue.
The cards that I can buy don't appear to match those that Sony specifies . . . I find it just too difficult to fathom, being a fairly simple fella.
