Rendering for PS3 Redux

Is anyone else having limited success with renders for serving to the PS3? I'm using the Sony AVC codec with video settings of 720x480 with a bitrate of 4,000,000 (I tried 10,000,000 as well). I have two videos that are recognized but one I had to cut in half before the PS3 would even see it on the media. The other is roughly the same size as the other two but for some reason it doesn't show up at all. I'm trying different settings now to see if that has any effect.

Is there a size limit to the files? Am I inadvertently changing a setting that is making these renders incompatible? I'm at a loss. I'm using the demo of Twonky right now because Windows Media Player made no sense at all to me.

What will give me the best quality if I just want to burn it to a cd/DVD and copy it to my PS3 HDD? I tried that route already and can't seem to find a compatible format.

I'm very curious about this too. So far I have found that original 1080i HDV .m2t files straight from my Sony FX1 camera can be served to the PS3 by TVersity and they play back ok. However, a 1080i HDV .m2t rendered from Vegas 8 (which can be recorded and played back fine in the FX1) is not recognized as valid by the PS3. So there are some subtleties here.

Note: this is all MPEG2 format. In addition to TVersity, I tried WMP11 which was able to see a few .wmv files, but it wasn't able to recognize any HDV file as valid.

PS3 can only read fat23 based files, in saying, that any file over 4 gggb wont be readable unless its ben indexed (such as a DL disc image)

Hmmm. If I remember correctly, none of the problem files were over 4 gig. The largest was about 3.5. Now some of the much smaller files are giving me grief. It's the same with HD files. Some m2t files will play others won't (all of which are very short clips).

I have found that the Windows Media HD encode looks excellent on the PS3 and reduces my 4+gig file down to 1 gig. It shows up as a VC-1 file.

Well I re-rendered the clip to mpeg2 and it works fine. Still don't know why that particular clip didn't show up as AVC while the others did but oh well. I guess I'll mess with some HD for a bit now.

At least there's more than one way to skin a cat with that plastic Hibachi. I've decided that's my new name for it. It kinda looks like an old Hibachi and puts out about the same amount of heat.

Hi
The limitation to FAT32 based files only applies to directly connected drives. Over a network it does not matter. I can serve 13GB HDV .m2t captures directly of my NTFS drive on my edit PC. This is how I preview my material on my HDTV.
To serve files using Windows Media Server or WMP11 you will need to rename .m2t to .mpg. This may apply to .m2ts as well.
The problem is with M$ products that do not recognise anything other than .mpg.
