Rendering Full HD to smallest file output possible

I want to render 45 minute "Full HD 1920 x 1080" video onto a DVD. I'm having problems getting it down to a size that will fit on a DVD (approx. 4.5 gig)

What settings should I use for the best output and smallest file size?

You can't put HDTV on a DVD in 1920 x 1080 but if you use the standard DVD size of 720 X 480 it should fit. I think that's the default for the program because when I import an HDTV MPEG2 file that is 1920 x 1080 it says the output will be 720 X 480 so try that and see what size file you get.
