Rendering hangs and a video stuttering problem

I am trying to render my project in avi format. It has about 10 min of video, audio and 2 titles. When I render it in avi format using the default template, the rendering hangs when at 14% done and gives me this message
Exception 0xC0000005 (access violation) WRITE:0x52DC000 IP:0x102EC79
In Module 'VEGAS40K.DLL' at Address 0x1000000 + 0x2EC79

What the heck is that all about. Also, I am able to watch the portion of vid that was rendered and it is playing frame by frame instead of smooth. How do I fix this? Kinda crazy.

What version of Vegas is this?

What are you exact render settings?

Is your system running HOT?

I think there was something wrong with the project. I deleted the whole thing and started a new one from scratch. I rendered it as an mpeg as I was to put in on a vcd anyway. All went well except now I am having problems with the vcd playing. See other thread I started if you can help me at all. Arhg........ Still better then any other software, just a larger learning curve then I was used to .

The avi I was trying to render to an mpg was just littered with corruptions and crazy crap. I had made the project and rendered it to avi with Pinnacle. Redid the project with VV and all is well. Actually looks better.
