Rendering HD 1080p

Just got a new HD camera (Canon Vixia HF200s AVCHD) I own MS 9 Platinum edition, when attempting to render a HD video, the only format that I can get to render correctly is .WMV. I have tried to render to .AVI, .MOV, MPEG4 and all of those formats produce a jerky, staggering clip.

Therefore I downloaded the trial versions of MS 10 HD as well as Vegas Pro and I still have the same issues. My footage is shot in 1920x1080. Any suggestions as to templates to use when rendering or any info that would help. I would like to purchase MS10 or even Pro if I cen get them to work for me....Loved MS 9 in standard definition but am sort of befuddled trying to render HD....

Could it be that the file is fine, but your player is faulty, or perhaps your pc isn't powerful enough?
Download the latest version of VLC Media Player. It should play mov and mp4 HD files without a problem.

I was able to render in HD without a problem in VMS 10 Platinum. I used Eugenia's tips for setting up VMS for best results :

I am still on an old P4 3GHz single core HT computer with an Nvidia GeForce FX 5700 and was able to render without any problems. It takes forever....14 hours to render a 15 minute HD movie....but I render it overnight.

Getting a new machine soon.

Thanks will try the tips...can now render in .WMV and MPEG4, but no other formats.....MPEG4 is good enough for the internet so I guess I am ok at this time....Just not sure why .AVI and .MOV renders are so klunky.....

Make sure you aren't rendering AVI and MOV as uncompressed. Those files are huge and they can't be read fast enough from disk without dropping frames.
