I"m not entirely sure, but i believe you need the Platinum edition to work with HD.

That's what I thought. In any event it is good because I can get HD without a HD Camera.

You need your source material to be in HD in order to get true HD for anything. If you are trying to take video from a standard definition camera and make Vegas render it in an HD format, you will probably be disappointed with the results as Vegas will just "upconvert" the video, which means basically just expand it to fit the HD video resolution. In that case, you might as well just render in standard definition and let your TV or DVD player upconvert the video when you play it back through one of those devices.
