Rendering Issues - DV AVI

I have about 6GB worth of media to render into DV AVI format - So I can transfer to tape and DVD but after it reaches 5% I get an error. I will list the details of the error at then end of my message. (NTFS - 80GB HD - AMD 2200XP - 1GB DDR - 64MB GFORCE - ONBoard Sound)

I have tried shutting down all other programs in the background ie. antivirus, firewall, other non important Windows programs - just kept the bare essentials running so that Vegas Movie may have plenty of resources during the rendering process. Unfortunately, I still get the error. Please help!

I got a similar error when creating AVI files. I submitted it to Sony support and they say that their engineers are looking at it. Being in the software business I know that this means I need to find a workaround!

From your description it sounds like the error occurs in the same spot every time you try the render; this was true for me as well. I was even able to reproduce the error by rendering just a few seconds of the timeline where the error occurred. (Saves you from having to wait a long time to see the error.)

In my case the error occurred at a point where I had split an event. I just tweaked the area where the error occurred by moving the events so that the events overlapped a bit (crossfade) instead of having a clean split. I even found that I could leave things unchanged, copy the events in questions, then delete them, then paste them back into the same spot and all would work well.

Give that a try, and let me know if my description of the workaround doesn't make sense.
