Rendering .MP4 with 5.1 Surround

I'm running Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 and receive the following error when attempting to render an MP4 with 5.1 surround:

An error occurred while creating the media file xxxx.mp4.
An error occurred while opeing a codec.

The source file is an AVCHD 1920x1080 60i 5.1 surround file from a Sony CX700 camcorder. I'm trying to convert this file to an MP4 for streaming on a XBOX 360.

For rendering I start with the "AVCHD 1920x1080-60i 5.1 Surround" template and change the following settings on the Sony AVC/MVC dialog:

System tab - Format: changed to MP4 File Format (.MP4)
Audio tab - Audio coding mode: changed to 5.1 Surround
All other settings are default.

About two seconds after clicking the "Render" I receive the errors listed above.

Has anyone encountered this or know if this is normal? It would seem that if these settings were not permitted, they would not be able to be set. Perhaps something has become corrupted on my system?

Thanks!

Did you import your media into a 5.1 surround project?

Yes, the media file was imported into a 5.1 project. I am able to render the file as an M2TS file with 5.1 surround, but not MP4.

I'm began wondering if a codec might be corrupt so I reinstalled the software and still get the same error. Then again, I'm not sure if the uninstaller would actually remove the codecs, or if the installer would overright what had already been installed. In either case, the error continues...

No, it's not anything that's corrupt. It's the render settings. AVCHD template probably has some high profile settings that will not render to plain .mp4. Keep playing.
