Rendering MPEG-2 format for playing on DVD

I understand that in order to create a video that can be burned on to a DVD and played on most DVD players (in standard definition), the video edited in Vegas Movie Studio HD must be rendered as "MainConcept MPEG-2." My pull-down menus do not include MainConcept MPEG-2 as a choice. Any advice on how to create a movie that can be burned on to a DVD and played on most DVD players?

Vegas Movie Studio does not "author" DVDs, Rhomer. That's the job of a companion program, like DVD Architect Studio.

If you've got DVD Architect Studio, you can use Vegas Movie Studio's Make Movie/Burn DVD option to render your video and port it over to DVD Architect Studio for production as DVD files.

DVD files are .vob's inside a folder named VIDEO_TS. Until you have this folder on a disc, you won't have a playable DVD.

File->Render As-> Save As Type->MainConcept MPEG-2

Thank you. My pull-down doesn't offer the MainConcept MPEG-2 choice when I use "File-Render As- Save as Type." Thanks anyway.

Thank you. If I purchase DVD Architect Studio, will I then have the choice to "Burn DVD"? With my Vegas Movie Studio HD, Version 9.0c, Build 30, I only have the choice to Burn CDs. I appreciate your interest.

I don't know about version 9.

But , in Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10, the two programs speak directly to each other!
