Rendering .mpg2

I have an ~1hr 20min project that I'm trying to write out in .mpg format so I can input into DVD Architect Studio. Right now it's ~3.9GIG, and I still want to add some background music. If I use .mp3's, will it put me over the top so I can't optimize it down to the 4.7GIG DVD size?
Also...when I render my project, what template should I use so it doesn't have two black bars on either side of it? I want the video to "fit" to the TV screen.
Should I consider rendering my background music separately, then merge them in Architect? Thank you, thank, thank you!

Render it out to avi because in dvd architect you can adjust bitrate
to fit to disk.

Jimmyz...I don't think I have enough Hard Drive space 8-( any other ideas? That's why I went to .mpg2.
