Rendering multiple video tracks

I'm currently using VF2, but I think I have a better chance of getting an answer here. My project consists of footage taken from 2 sources. I've placed one on each video track, and then I just split and adjust the opacity on the overlay track when necessary so that the track I want to see is visible. My question is will this cause my rendering times to be longer than if I just completely cut the video out where I don't want it instead of adjusting the opacity? I'm thinking it might since I'm technically rendering two video streams instead of one, but I'm not really sure. Thanks for the help.

Why don't you try 2 segments, each five minutes to represent each way, and then render them? Then YOU tell US if it makes a difference.

Congratulations Gary. Your the first total ***hole I've come across in any of these forums for the 2+ years I've been here. Yeah, I could do exactlly what you said, but hey, isn't asking if someone else has experienced it first what these forums are all about? If it's such a waste of your time to give a decent reply, do me, and others, a favor...DON'T REPLY!

Do I get a plaque?

Seriously though...

If anyone thinks I'm an asshole for reminding them to check the manual, or in your case, to check something for yourself in less time than it would take to get an answer here, then I'm an asshole.

I'd rather "teach a man to fish" than give out the fish, and in this case if I can remind people to think a bit instead of running to the boards with every question they really can answer for themselves, then I've accomplished that.

I almost always double check the answers that I give here, and it would have taken me the same amount of time to run that little test as it would have taken you. The answer would have been of limited value because I (an everyone else here) would have run it on Vegas and not VF2 anyway.

Curious though, did it really take you six days to check back here for your answer? Couldn't have been that important to you in the first place.

Jodo- just do not come back here. We will not miss you.

Gary,

It's not your fault. Your answer was fine. Don't bother to respond further and just let this thread die.
