rendering multiple video tracks on Vegas 17

Leon-Zetekoff wrote on 2/26/2024, 12:45 PM

I've been pulling my hair out following the instructions in the help and online. I have two video tracks. The first one is a text watermark and the second one is the program video. There also is an audio track.

I have tried to render to new track or just a regular render. I only get track 1 (the text) rendered. I have also set solo on or off to no avail. does same thing.

Can someone please push me in the right direction?

I'm on latest build Vegas 17.0 Build 455.

Thanks, Leon

the first two tracks now are the new render to track tracks. if I delete the original tracks the video just has the watermark but it blinks during playback. also the filesize is like 1/3 the size it should be, since the original program video is missing

At your screenshot you have the S (of Solo) pushed. That means that only those tracks are visible in previeuw and rendered at rendering. You have to uncheck the solo buttons.

i have done it both ways. If I disable solo (the highlight box around the letter goes away, when I select to do a normal render i get the same thing the watermark shows up blinking and no program video.

Leon-Zetekoff wrote on 2/26/2024, 5:44 PM

as expected rendered the same whether solo is on or off - there are only two video tracks and one audio track so setting solo on for each of those everything shows up in the preview monitor EXCEPT when rendering

jetdv wrote on 2/26/2024, 6:24 PM

There are three video tracks and two audio tracks in your screenshot. The top video and audio track will not be used because the bottom ones are solo'd. If you're expecting to see the video on the top track, you won't because it's not solo'd too. Also, if you remove all solos, you won't get the title track because it will be behind the top-most video track.

Change your project resolution to even numbers. I'd recommend matching your source video or the resolution you plan to render to (higher is okay- what about DVD resolution of 720×480 or HD which is 1920x1080)?

Then remove the solos and render to a valid resolution (an even number, divisible by 8. The above resolutions are legal).

@jetdv The top two tracks in his picture are Render to New Track.

@RogerS thanks i changed it to 656x480 - this is 4x3 SD video HD not needed. I changed it to 656 from 654 and it is divisible by 8. rendering still does not pickup the tracks only the title track 1. Don't understand why this is so difficult :-)

Here's a capture during this rendering

Thanks leon

Try this:

  1. Select those three events (click on the text one and shift click on the audio event.)
  2. Press CTRL-C
  3. Open VEGAS again.
  4. In the new instance that opens, press CTRL-V

What does it look like in this new instance of VEGAS?

Also, what video card and video driver are you using? Help - Check for Driver Updates

Thanks for fixing the pixel dimensions and testing.

This is puzzling. Are the track compositing settings changed from defaults?

If you wouldn't mind uploading or sending me the veg I'm happy to take a look at it and see if there is something obviously wrong. Don't need the media.

The Jetdv cut and paste suggestion would bypass any errant track settings if that's what's causing the issue. Worth a try.

Hi guys,

let me upload the .VEG for you

Error: The selected format is not supported. doesn't like .veg only wants media types

won't even take a pdf :-( can you send me your email? mine is >deleted<?

jetdv wrote on 2/27/2024, 8:55 AM

@Leon-Zetekoff, you have to upload to a website such as your own or something like drop box or google drive and then share the link here for formats other than pictures or video.

Leon-Zetekoff wrote on 2/27/2024, 8:56 AM

i tried the ctrl-C and it only pasted the top track into the new instance

jetdv wrote on 2/27/2024, 8:58 AM

did you have all THREE events selected? Click on the top one and the SHIFT-CLICK on the bottom one to select all three events. Then CTRL-C and CTRL-V in the new instance.

Leon-Zetekoff wrote on 2/27/2024, 8:58 AM

ok @jetdv

here is properties on the program content

jetdv wrote on 2/27/2024, 9:02 AM

@Leon-Zetekoff, first of all, that's not the "MediaInfo" information as MediaInfo is a separate program as explained in your other post. Secondly, to see any details about the media, you'd need to show the "General" tab. But VEGAS will certainly show all layers unless something is wrong somewhere (which sharing the VEG file will help us determine.)

see if this works please

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TKrrzzQFAZPibcYHbhdLuHJyiZ0Dyo1W/view?usp=drive_link

It's not shared for anyone to see. Popped up a message to "request access".

Leon-Zetekoff wrote on 2/27/2024, 9:06 AM

I granted access @jetdv, thanks. Yeah on the file I posted thought it might help

jetdv wrote on 2/27/2024, 9:10 AM

The project is fine. I replaced your media with my media and it appears behind the text just fine.

If you start a new project and drag that video file to the timeline, does it appear in the preview screen? If not, it's either a media or codec issue. That's where we really need to see the information reported by "MediaInfo" for that file. Not what you can see in VEGAS. What MediaInfo reports.
