Rendering PAL DV

I have recently installed VideoFactory 2 after testing the trial version. The only function that I was unable to test in the trial was its saving/rendering capability. I live in Australia, so PAL DV is my required rendering output format. I _cannot_ output any video which contains anything other than captured footage - no FX, titles or backgrounds. In all cases, the video is output "blocky" - ie extreme artifacting, totally unrecognisable.

To reproduce the problem, do the following:

1. Start VideoFactory
2. Start a new project with attributes: PAL DV
3. Place a Color Gradient on the Video track
4. Render to PAL DV
5. Play file

In my case the result is unrecognisable as the color gradient as placed in the project. Note that rendering captured video is ok, until _any_ FX are added, at which time the image is totally destroyed. The Fast Video Resizing switch makes no difference.

Rendering as NTSC DV works fine - this is, of course, useless to me as I require to output to a PAL DV camera for transfer to VHS for distribution.'

Has anyone else experienced similar problems? And if so, how do you fix it? :)

Cheers

Brad

Gradients should be placed on the OVERLAY track. I tried rendering that way using the PAL DVD template and it worked OK.

To change the opacity of the gradient or anything on the overlay track you need to position your cursor over the effect you just dragged to the overlay track then the cusor should change to a double headed pointer with arrows on either end. Move the line you should see vertically to change the opacity to whatever percentage you want to allow the video frame below to bleed through.

An un-install of the VF and a reinstall appears to have fixed it - weird, but there you go. All renders are ok now (as much as I've tested at least) - much happiness :)

Hi Brad,
I have identical problems with PAL renderings. The original DV clips come out in perfect quality, everything that had been calculated, like text overlay or other renderings were useless. NTSC is fine. I saw no solution, now I know from your experience! I will reinstall VF.
Thanks
