Rendering Problem

I have a few questions. I'm trying to render or save
(What's the differance?) a 10 minute long videoclip I have
edited with Vegas Video and then encode to mpeg with Xing
mpeg encoder 2.2 But it never turns out the way I want.

First the problem was that Xing just stopped encoding after
3 min 50 sec and said that the Handle for a *.avi was wrong
(Whatever that means) which is weird since the first 3
minutes are perfect. Then I tried to render the *.avi
different but now it never renders the whole project.

I uncheched the "Render loopregion only" but it just
stopped rendering after 6 minutes... why? then I checked
the box and made marked the whole project as the loop and
tried again but it stops after 6 minutes anyway...

I have enough diskcapacity on the partition where the *.avi
is saved I have a few Gb left so that should'nt be the
problem... The Disk with the swap file does'nt protest
either. So.. I'm stuck... what can I do except devide the
clip into two parts?

Lars-

Vegas can render 2 types of .avi files:

"OpenDML Avi" (aka ".avi2") files which eliminate the 2 GB limit, and
regular "old style" avi files (which are limited, as always, to 2GB).

I do not believe that Xing has implemented OpenDML support as of this
writing (8/2/00).

Vegas is one a few programs out there that has OpenDML avi support,
but we do give you the option of creating either type of .avi in the
RenderAs/Custom/Video dialog box. You might try unchecking the
OpenDML option and re-rendering your session (to the not-OpenDML .avi
format).

IF (big if seeing that is a ten minute video clip) rendering out your
program at full resolution would result in a file bigger than 2GB,
you could either:

a)render out the program in sub-2GB chunks and pass them to Xing in
sequence, OR

b) try rendering an uncompressed .avi at your largest destination
frame size and frame rate (like maybe 320x240, 15 fps??). This will
result in a nice, clean image with a much smaller file size.

Let us know if this works for you...
