Rendering question Vegas Pro 20

Max-Hind wrote on 7/10/2024, 5:51 AM

Hi, I'm hoping some one has a solution for this issue. If I click off Vegas 20 while its rendering (for anything, ie looking at web browser or opening another app) , the speed Vegas renders at drastically reduces (The FPS goes to a fraction of the speed it was rendering at). Is there a setting in preferences that I can change to stop this happening so it still renders at the same speed when I open something else? Many thanks

Are you using Windows 11? What's your CPU? I wonder if it has to do with Windows managing the P vs E cores based on what app is active.

In general I let renders render and do something else for a while.

I have two PC's with Vegas 20. One is windows 11 ( CPU is 13th gen intelr core i7-13700KF)and one is windows 10 (12th gen intel core i7 12700)and its the same on both.

Both the 12th and 13th generation Intel CPUs have this hybrid architecture so it's possible putting VEGAS In the background is moving the priority down.

Maybe someone else knows a workaround or way to stop this. (I'm still speculating that this is the cause, not sure).

Solution: Don't multitask on your rendering machine, as doing so competes with Vegas for combined resources.

Adjusting thread priority has been shown to have little effect.

@Max-Hind Best to simply let Vegas rendering do its thing without opening anything else up, for optimum speed. Also make sure " Close media files when not the active application" is checked in the Preferences, just in case.
