Rendering solved / (Tip on 5400rpm HD)

So no one wastes time on this, I've solved the problem. To share the solution: Instead of editing in trimmer I cut the video section out in the time line using the "S" key on the keyboard. When I opened Video Capture to record it to my Hi8 camera, it worked great and played a full hour. TIP: I use a 5400rpm Maxtor 80gig external HD with firewire and have had zero problems with it at any stage of capturing and rendering long videos. I purchased from Best Buys but I was told by a CompUSA techie that it's the data transfer mode that is more important than the 7200rpm speed of the disk and said firewire will work just fine when video editing with a 5400rpm HD.

Oh, and one more thing. What are the contrasting transfer modes which allow problem-free capture from the 5400 RPM drive? I, like you, can vouch for the reliability of the Maxtor 80-gig firewire drive. I have two of them. Bought the first, tested it with video, then filled it with stuff that I didn't want to lose, could not believe the salesman at Best Buy when, during my purchase of the second, he informed me that the only drawback to this drive in his mind was that it ran only at 5400RPM. Bought it anyway, then hurried home to double check the specs on drive 1, yep, 5400 RPM.

I read on a thread in another forum that Quantum makes a drive they call "Big Foot" which spins at a lower RPM, but, due to its large geometry (it's a 5 1/4" drive, apparently) also is quite capable in real-time critical tasks.

I'm no expert, but, I've learned what works for me, and always interested in learning more.
