RENDERING: squares

FuTz wrote on 5/30/2002, 8:09 AM
It's the first time I got this problem. When I render to .avi file, big "electronic squares" appear in my rendered file. I tried three times, defragmenting, shutting all apps around (including Norton Anti-Virus) but these squares still continue to appear, evertime almost on the same spot... Why? This is time consuming since it's one hour and a half of rendering every time I try, just for a 5m.30s. video-clip... Now I'll try this: resample (check box) each and every clip into the problematic region and render... if this doesn't work, I really don't know what to try next...

Are you seeing this when you play the file on the computer, or just when you print to tape?

On the computer... using MediaPlayer v7.01.
I haven't tried to print since I though this problem would also get "printed" on tape...
Are you about to tell me that printing will be A-1 ? Holy *** , I've been rendering since yesterday, hahaha! Should've tried to print...no?

I never trust Media Player 7 to not be doing some kind of odd scaling or such. My two suggestions would be to watch the video in Media Player 2 (Start->Run->"mplayer2") to prevent any scaling, or just toss the video into a new Vegas session and see if you see anything in there.

what format are your source clips, what format are you rendering to?

I've been recording in 16:9 , mini DV (Sony dsr-pd100).
I set preferences to DV (NOT widescreen) then render in DV (same...) to get these two black bars on top and bottom of picture on my TV set ( and other's...).

And yes, I get a good idea of what you're telling me about MPlayer 7 here; audio is disgusting on this player a few days after installation (did it twice in my case, I run Win2k... ? maybe because of that?). Plays like old records, ADDING scratches on WAV files and cd player. Next re-installation: mediaPlayer 7= NOT !!!!!!!.

And I got a new one now, I'll be posting it. ...... :(
