Rendering Time

Hello everyone

I got a Sony VIAO Desktop:

Speed: 2.60 Ghz.
Memory: 1GB DDR RAM
Video: Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti 4400 128 MB Card
Sound Card: Creative Dolby 5.1 .
Internet: T1.
Alright?, so my question is only one.

Can somebody tell me why Screenblast Movie Studio 3.0b Build 118 take 12 hours to render a 22 minutes video which doesn't have any Transitions?.

Probably I am missing something or doing something wrong here.

Thanks in advance.

Sineis.

What are you rendering it as, Sineis? And what types of files are working from?

DV-AVI to DV-AVI should take a few minutes or less (assuming no transitions or effects).

DV-AVI to WMV or MPEG (or DVD) might take about 4-6 times the running time of your video on your system.

An MPEG to another format can take a very long time because it has to be uncompressed before being compressed.

And stills must each be renderred, a frame at a time, before they can become anything else (though, on a machine as fast as yours, that shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 times the running time of your video).

So there are any number of factors -- including if your system is defragged, where your files are stored, etc.

12 hours certainly seems excessive in any event though. But, when it was done, did you get a good file? That alone might be testimony that things happened at the speed they needed to. A never-completed file would be more of an issue.

Thanks grisetti for reply my question.

It happens when I try to render a mpeg2 video (DVD NTSC) using a mpeg video captured from windows movie maker.

Now, I have done the same thing and sometimes is fast and sometimes is not. so I am about to quit using this software cause of that issue. Yes it is true the file at the end is wonderful but, for example I use Nero Express 6 to and the same video it took berely 5 minutes to render it with the same quality and transitions. What do you think?.
