Rendering times PAL v NTSC

When I render PAL DV format my 45min DV project takes about 3hrs 20min and the quality to camera ~ VHS is great. When I started to re-render (same project)to NTSC DV format (to send to friend in States) it said it takes about 8hrs.
Captured on Sony TRV120E PAL system. I'm assuming it's for ok PAL capture to be converted this way.

When you render to DV using the same template as the source files, Video Factory can rapidly copy any parts of the clips that aren't modified (no transitions, effects, etc.). However, if you render to a different template, such as PAL -> NTSC, then Video Factory has to render every frame even if there are no effects. There isn't any problem doing this, but it wil take longer.
