Rendering to WMV-HD shows color shift?

Howdy...

I am producing a training video, with footage shot with a Z1, compressed to 720 30p with cineform, and then exported to WMV.

There are no effects or adjustments on the clip.

If I export to a small format (SD), things look good, but if I use the Vegas built-in 6Mbps 720-30p render to WMV, I'm getting an odd colorshift that gets progessively worse until the next keyframe...

Here's a small 20sec example (16MB)

http://www.rooproductions.com/hdtest.wmv

If you watch my face in this, you'll notice that it starts out looking ok (as ok as my face CAN look :-), then it gets a red tint, and then it jups back to ok at the next keyframe (5 secs).

Again this only happens at the HD WMV setting...

Any ideas on what's going on here?

Best,

Ben

I think a while back using the 8 meg bitrate was reccommended as the best compromise. Don't know why the color shift.

Maybe you just can't see the detail on the smaller version like you can on the HD?

I did see a kind of purple-ish tint, that changed at the very end of your face shot, when the windows form started to fade in. Very subtle.

Wow, I viewed this again. The change in face color is from your PC monitor. When you pressed the keyboard, something on the display shifted, and the lighting on your face changed to a more natural color. Do you have a red/purple screen saver?

It's not just my screen, as it happes consistently even when the screen doesn't change. Good though, though...

It's not the detail. If I rendere to uncompressed at HD size, it's not there.

Do you think it's something to do with the 6mb rate? I'll up it to 8 and see if it goes away. Seems very strange, though...

Also consider that Windows Media Player has (I forgot what it is called) options that change the look of the video being played.

I viewed it in both Nero Showtime 3 and WMP (without color shifts set). In both it was very subtle. The only thing I saw was a shift in the light from your monitor reflecting on your face.

OK, this is strange....

I was viewing it with Media Player Classic, get gettting 4 colors ships (every 5 seconds)...

However, when I load it with WMP, the color shift is not there.

So, it seems that it only happns on certain players...

Can someone play it with Classic and see if they see it too?

Very odd!
