Rendering Video for DV Architect

I plan to convert some home video to DVD using Vegas Video and DV Architect. The video consists of about 20 individual clips. I'm not looking to go crazy in DV Architect - essentially I want a chapter for each clip to let viewers jump directly to a given clip if desired.

Looking for hints/recommendations on the best way to capture and render the video - one single file or one file per clip? Of course, if there's an even better alternative, I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

There was another thread that discussed this in some detail but I don't remember what it was at the moment.

I think the gist of the recommendations was that you combine all the clips into one file in Vegas and then set chapter points. DVDA will read the chapter points from Vegas. I think the advantage here is that you can use the remote to skip from one chapter to another.

IYou could also assign a menu button to each individual file but I think you will be returned to the main menu after each clip. See if you can find the original thread (within the last thirty days) that discusses this in more detail.

Since you are using Vegas add a chapter marker at the begining of each of your 20 clips. Then when you render the new file be sure to render using the option to incorporate the chapter markers in to DVDA. That's off the top of my head, but you'll see an option very similar to that when you go to render the new file. However, don't sweat it if later you've forgotten one. You can always add them manually in DVDA.

Here is the thread I was thinking about (25 postings altogether):

Welp....everyone has already posted all the good stuff. But I'll just add my two cents.

Make all your clips one file in Vegas. Makes the whole process much easier.

In Architect if you do make a menu page with twenty chapters, when the user goes back to menu - they will go back to the main menu. So doing chapter pages 2 and 3 deep can be a pain to navigate.

You could have all your start points (chapters) be on the main page, if you just use text (vs text and images)...this way - it really doesn't matter.

I just finished a wedding video - main menu had play all and chapter select. Chapter select was only one page. So if someone did want to start at chapters and then come back to the menu - they didn't have to clik through 4 pages to get to the chapters they wanted.

You can always put in chapter points, but not list them on a menu - this helps when a user pushes the "next" button on their remote. It just jumps to the next chapter point.

Hope that helps

I´ve been using just text as startpoints as kameronj suggested
but I would like to make a frame around the text.
Anyone who knows if that is possible?
