It would take about 3x longer on any speed computer.

i thought it was 3x longer but seem like the rate its going right now is about 1 minute of film per 1 hour of rendering time. oh my gosh!!! i have a 2 hours long film, thats mean i'm looking at 120 hours of rendering. in fact, its been rendering since monday evening.

is there any way i can upgrade my computer or do something to it to make it go faster? if i leave my computer on to render that long.... will it be overheat or cause some kind damage? please advice.

In real estate its location, location, location. WIth rendering in Vegas, its CPU SPEED, CPU SPEED, CPU SPEED that matters most.

Overheating is relative. When your CPU is under load (it is somewhat during rendering) if its going to overheat your system it likely will in the first twenty minutes or so. You CPU should go so hot then not go higher. If it fails I would suspect your memory may overheat. Still, if you're already several hours or days in your case of constant rendering and still no problems, chances are you'll be fine. I've done some longish renders that ran all night, a few around 24 hours, you may set a new record if you go as long as you think.

If you are worried about heat, you can point a fan at the computer.
