The numerical sequencing of the marker number are meaningless to DVDA. DVDA simply sets up the chapters in the order of the markers on the timeline.
(The only reason they are numerically numbered is to make it easier to navigate to them on the timeline by using the numeric keyboard keys)

Here's a "solution":

1. Open the Edit Details view (View -> Edit Details)
2. In Edit Details, select Show: Markers.
3. Click on the blank button at the intersection of the column titles and row titles (i.e., in the upper left corner of this dialog). This will select the entire Edit Details worksheet.
4. Press Ctrl-X to cut all the markers. Then, immediately press Ctrl-V to paste them back. You will end up with markers in the same location, with the same marker names, but all the numbers will be gone.

What has this accomplished? Absolutely nothing, but you can feel better about not having the marker number appear out of order on the timeline.

While you are in the tidy mood, go clean out your closet.
