Renumbering Markers

zstevek wrote on 9/26/2004, 10:39 AM
I have my project laid out the way I want it for the most part.

For example: I have 20 markers and after marker 1 I want to insert another chapter point and have it numbered 2 instead of 21. I also need all the other numbers to update.

My problem is that I want to add a marker (Chapter point) towards the beginning and the marker numbering sequence is out of order.

Is there a way to change the number (not name) of the marker so it has the correct numbering sequence?

Thanks

Technically the number of the marker does not matter. What matters is the POSITION of the markers. However, if you INSIST on the markers being in numerical order, the newest version of Excalibur will do that for you.

If you are talking about the number that Vegas assigns to the marker (that appears inside of the orange marker itself, jetdv is exactly right -- it doesn't matter, but Excalibur can put them in order.

However, if you are talking about numbers in the marker name that YOU created, then the easiest was is to go to the Edit view (found in the View menu), select Markers, select all the marker names, press Ctrl-C to copy them, then paste them into a spreadshett, resort the names so they are in order, copy them, and then paste them back into the Edit view.
