Replaced Footage check script??

Some of us are still having problems with the "Replaced Footage" issue. This means that we have to rewatch each and every second of our projects over and over again after every change - fearing replaced footage - until the problem is fully solved in a future Vegas 11 update.

Is it a big work to develop a script that runs through the TL and compares all Take Names to their file names (i.e. Take Name 00037 to File Name E:\Pictures\00037.mts) and gives an error message or a list if they are different ??

I know that this will only work for users that do not change the Take Names on the TL from the originally assigned media file names - but it would save very much time for many of us.

Please?

I have tried to do this myself trying to use Gary James' Timeline Tools for Vegas (http://www.nfatoys.com/moasoftwarellc/) but I get all kinds of "Invalid pointer", "File Format is not valid" etc. when I try to dump the TL via his Export Event Table.

This topic has also been mentioned in my Vegas Pro-Video thread:http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=817650&Replies=10

@ritsmer. What version of TLT are you using?

If you've found a bug in my Timeline Tools utility I'd really like to get the problem fixed. Do you have an example project you can send that demonstrates the problem? Personally, I've been fortunate and never ran into the Replaced Footage problem. So I can't duplicate that issue.

If you can send me the problematic project, I'll be happy to work with you to fix this. I'd also be willing to add an automated test that locates file/take differences, if that's what you really need.

@ Gary: Thank you - but when I write "all kinds of "Invalid pointer", "File Format is not valid" etc. " it is NOT my opinion that it is a bug in your software - just a sign as to how spoiled that project file is.

I will prepare some data and mail to you.

I've just placed version v1.0.34 of Timeline Tools on the web site. This include some bug fixes and a new display filter that shows only those events that have a mismatch between the Take name displayed in the event, and the media file name that was the source of the take.

This is especially useful for those of you who've experienced the infamous Sony Vegas Changed Media bug.

@all users having the Replaced Footage issue: I have just downloaded and installed Gary James' Timeline Tools.

That is perfect. Indeed.

I have some projects where Vegas (11 newest build 382) changed my footage.

Fearing the next time I would present one of my videos and experience the horror of some replaced footage (it really gives your audience some second thoughts about your editing skills) I had to close-watch each and every rendered project after each and every even so small change. Quite time consuming, that is.

Since yesterday I just click Garys Timeline Tools extension and in seconds it checks my project and tells me if there are any replaced footage in it.

In my working project I was aware of one replaced footage - but the Timeline Tools found another one.

This is G R E A T.

Thank you so much, Gary.
