Replacing Avi Audio

I want to edit audio in an audio editor, ie. Cool Edit Pro 2, however, initiating this from Vegas 6d causes Cool Edit to recognize it as RAW audio. Once it makes it into Cool Edit Pro this way the audio is 100% noise.

If I Extract Audio from Video within Cool Edit, it comes in perfect.

So my questions are: Is there a better way to do this? If not, how can I replace audio of Avi's the easiest?

Odd. Audition (Cool Edit under Adobe) sees the audio correctly when you specify Audition as the default audio editor...
Anyway...render out a track from Vegas, edit it, and as long as you don't change the length, just reapply as an audio Take in Vegas. That'll work fine.

I use Cool Edit 2000, and have observed the same phenomenon when loading into Cool Edit via Vegas' "Open in Audio Editor" command. (I think that's the correct terminology.) Have you tried using "Open COPY in Audio Editor"? That works for me. After editing in Cool Edit, hit the Save button and go back to Vegas. Your edit will be the active take, replacing the original audio.

It works, and I believe it's primarily because of the copying process of Open Copy In Audio Editor I actually watched as Vegas copied the Audio of an AVI to a WAV and then brought it into Cool Edit.
