Required media audio codec is not installed Errror

Dear Valued Experts - I've used VMS for several years - currently using 9.0a build 85. Everything was OK on an older XP Sony, but I recently purchased a new Dell Win7 computer and reloaded.
I'm working with photos and 720p video files from a Casio Exilm EX-S12. The video clips play fine in preview, but when I try to render a 720-24p .wmv file, I immediately get the message: "Required Windows media audio codec is not installed".
I have rendered .wmv files on the same computer using Live Movie Maker.

Help please. Curt

This is a long shot, but make sure you allow windows media player to download codecs automatically.
Also, always install the software that came with the camera, even if you have no intention of using it. Make sure it is the Windows 7 version.

My issue is solved - sort of!

I could not find any choice in Windows Media Player preferences for "download codecs automatically". I would appear to be looking for a WMA9 Pro 5.1 Surround codec. The MS website seems to indicate this is included. And I loaded my Casio EX-S12 software, although it is for computer to camera transfer and does not specify Win7 compatibility (only Vista). When I try a normal rendering to .wmv 720p-24 5.1 sound - I still get an immediate "Required Windows media audio codec is not installed" error message. When I would instead click Advanced and run the same render it would get about half way, but then crash VMSP.

However - further research on this board led me to download and install CFF Explorer and adjust the listed VMSP files.

It still gives me the same error message on a normal render, but the Advanced button and same .wmv 5.1 render works great with no crash. I can live with that until Sony fixes something. Thanks Ivan and Mad Pierre!
